By VICKI CROCCO What does I.N.F. stand for? That's what we asked the man on the street this week. And like most ! of us, nobody was positive about i what the actual initials stand for, 1 but we received some interesting ideas about what the new treaty means to future relations between the U.S. and the USSR. Kevin Bohn said, "Intermediate Range Missiles or something? I don't know. I don't think it's enforceable. en-forceable. We can't check it against our numbers. It's just not feasible. But, I guess it's better than not doing anything. Every lit tle bit helps." Andi Reese, visiting from North Carolina said, "I know, interrange nuclear something. I know Utah is involved in the Soviet missile monitoring, but I think it's sort of futile. I think we're heading in the right direction, but it depends on who gets in office. I don't like Bush's foreign policy. If Dukakis wins, we'll be in good shape." Quyle Dutson, "International something? The summit will help human rights. The ban on nuclear weapons makes peace look ten times more possible. Any attempt is better than nothing. I think very little real change has happened, though. The Russians historically only move when it is advantageous to them. I don't think it's practical, but at least the two super powers are trying to do something." Nicole Childs, of Toppers Frozen Yogurt said, "The summit will help us to get along better. I'd like to see total trust and peace in the future. And, I think we're getting get-ting there." f Shannon Hebdon said, "I donV think it will make much difference. With Reagon almost out of office, the new president will have to try to pick up where he left off. I think things are just going to stay the same." |
