He will receive U. of U. Honors at entrance, BYU "Y" scholarship and a leadership scholarship at Weber We-ber State. While at Davis High he has been a two-year starter on the basketball team, varsity tennis player, junior president and student body first vice president. After high school he plans to go the University of Utah to study medicine and eventually even-tually become a radiologist. J. PATRICK SHULDBERG J. Patrick Shuldberg, son of Noel and Ramona Shuldberg, graduated from Utah State University. He received a degree in economics econo-mics and marketing. Patrick affiliated affili-ated with Sigma Chi Fraternity where he served as house manager and a chapter officer. He graduated from Woods Cross High in 1979 where he was active in wrestling and student government. He is working for Mountain Fuel and engaged to Kelly Javis, daughter of Floyd and Mary Javis of Woods Cross. BRIGETTE ALLEN Brigette Allen received a Presidential Pres-idential four year tuition to Utah State University; Presidential, two year tuition to Brigham Young University and honors at entrance, one year tuition (renewable) to the University of Utah. She is the daughter of Gary B. and Merna Allen and a graduate of Woods Cross High. Brigette has a 3.975 gpa and a 29 ACT and was a Sterling Scholar finalist in social science. She was president of the drill team and a member of the National Honor Society, senior class committee, com-mittee, school senate, and Math Club. She attended Girls State. She has also been a member of FBLA, pep club and the French Club. KIMBERLY ANN KNIGHT Kimberly Ann Knight, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen L. Knight, will attend BYU after graduation gra-duation from Woods Cross High. She received a Utah Career Teaching Scholarship for four years' tuition, Dean's Scholarship for one-half year at BYU, Honors at Entrance, four years, at the University Uni-versity of Utah, chosen as first alternate of the University of Utah departmental scholarship in education educa-tion for four years, and is recipient of the Paul Douglas National Teaching Scholarship, all expenses ex-penses paid. Some of the activities Kimberly has been involved with include: pep club drill mistress, Woods Cross colorguard, junior and senior class committees, powder puff football, member of the National Na-tional Honor Society and Math Club. Received the USAA-USBEA award and biography will appear in the USAA yearbook. Took third place in business math at the Weber We-ber State Business Skills Contest, maintained a 3.8 gpa and Woods Cross business Sterling Scholar. STEPHANIE BENNETT Stephanie Bennett of Davis High, daughter of Dr. George and Marcia Bennett, received the National Na-tional Merit Scholar, Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship (U.S. Dept. of Education), social science Sterling Scholar from Davis, awarded Presidential scholarship, University of Utah; Concertmis-tress, Concertmis-tress, Utah Youth Symphony; President, Davis debate team; entering en-tering Harvard-Radcliffe in September; Sep-tember; won Moot Court competition, competi-tion, Law Day USA, in 1987. Stephanie has been very involved in-volved in music, studying the piano and violin and more recently the harpsichord. She studies piano with Bonnie Gritton and has placed in a number of piano competitions throughout the state. Last year she appeared as a guest piano soloist with the Utah Youth Symphony, in which she plays the violin. Her teacher is Jack Ashton. She is a member of the Young Artist Chamber Players, directed by Mr. Ashton, in which she plays the violin, piano and harpsichord. Stephanie has a wide variety of other interests as well. At Davis she has taken six AP classes and many other honors classes. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and president of the Davis debate team. Her summer activities activi-ties have included debate camp and a program of study at Oxford University Uni-versity for high school students. MARK DANIEL ANDERSON Mark Daniel Anderson, son oft Daniel and Marcia Anderson ok Centerville and grandson of James and June Hessing of Boise, Ida. and Edith Anderson, Logan, is a senior at Viewmont. He has been named a Scholastic Ail-American and has a 4.0 gpa. This past winter Mark applied for participation in the Advanced High School Studies Program "88 in computer science at BYU Aug. 1-12. Mark has been awarded afirst place in this much sought after program. At the Academic Awards banquet ban-quet at Viewmont June 1, Mark was honored as one of the five "Academic All Stars" for 1987-88 from the Junior Class. The Academic Acade-mic All-Star program at Viewmont recognizes the top five academic scholars in the sophomore, (as a sophomore Mark also won this award), junior, and senior classes. These scholars are chosen on the basis of grade point average and class weighting. When Mark returns to Viewmont View-mont as a senior, he will function as the associate editor for the "Danegeld," the school newspaper. newspap-er. Mark will also be involved with the Viewmont High School Madrigals Mad-rigals for the 1988-89 school year. She received a Presidential Pres-idential Scholarship for full tuition for four semesters (two years). Carol has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years, Honor Society secretary, three-year member of the marching band's flagline, winner of the Exchange Ex-change Club's Freedom Shrine contest, member of Senator Orrin Hatch's Youth Advisory Committee, Commit-tee, participated in the Summer Enrichment Program at the University Uni-versity of Utah on scholarship. She enjoys skiing, cooking, camping, hiking and reading. ANGIE OLSON Angie Olson, daughter of Judy and Bryce Olson, of Woods Cross High School received the President's Presi-dent's Scholarship at the University Universi-ty of Utah. This scholarship supports sup-ports up to 18 hours of tuition per quarter and provides $750 cash per year to meet book and fee expenses, ex-penses, to be renewed each year, according to maintenance of requirements. re-quirements. Angie has been a member of the National Honor Society for two years, maintaining an accumulative accumula-tive gpa of 3.92, actively involved in student government including class committees, senate, and junior class officer. Was a recipient of the Woods Cross Academic Achievement Award for the month of March. Has been enrolled in many concurrent, concur-rent, honors and AP classes including includ-ing AP English, AP European history, his-tory, and AP U.S. History. A member of the Woods Cross Swim team for three years, Angie was co-captain her senior year. She enjoys playing the piano and competes in piano competitions including in-cluding the University of Utah's Summer Arts. STEVEN B. ELMER Steven B. Elmer of Woods Cross High and son of William F. and Kathy W. Elmer has been awarded the Utah Career Teaching Scholarship by the State Board of Regents. It is a four-year full tuition scholarship scho-larship and allows him to attend a state supported college or university universi-ty of his choice. He will attend South Utah State College starting Fall quarter, 1988. Steven was an officer in the Concert Con-cert Choir, a former officer in the Future Business Leaders of America, Amer-ica, a member of Key Club, Cats Against Substance Abuse, Just Say No Club, and the American League of Office Assisters. He has been active in student politics, church leadership, and scout roles, as well as an extensive theatre career since the age of seven. After graduation, Steven plans to serve an LDS mission and enter a career in teaching. Although Steven has had a wide range of overwhelming support, he contributes many of his successes to supportive parents, Mark and Sherylan Mann and Jaquiline Worthen. BILL CHRISTENSEN Bill Christensen of Woods Cross High, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred and Martha Claire Christensen, Christen-sen, received the Thomas J. Watson Wat-son Memorial Scholarship, given to sons and daughters of IBM employees, em-ployees, a $2,000 a year scholarship scholar-ship for four years. Bill maintained a 3.95 gpa and ranked sixth in his graduating class, was state Sterling Scholar finalist in mathematics, Woods Cross studentbody academics vice president, Thespian Council secretary, sec-retary, 1987-88, Academic Achievement Award Winner for December, 1987. Won "Best supporting actor" award in Region one-act play competition, com-petition, member of the National Honor Society, National Fore-nsics Fore-nsics League, the Woods Cross Terrain Surfing Club and the Woods Cross tennis team. Bill enjoys tennis, ping-pong, basketball and nerf hoop. He plans to attend BYU with a four-year trustees' scholarship studying pre-medicine. ERIC L. VANDYKE Eric L. VanDyke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen A. VanDyke, Kaysville, has received the Ezra Taft Benson Scholarship to BYU for a four-year period beginning with the 1988-89 academic year. Eric has had a distinguished career at Davis High School. He was the state runner-up in the general gen-eral Sterling Scholar congest, National Na-tional Merit Scholar finalist and recipient re-cipient of a scholarship through this nation-wide organization. He maintained a 4.0 gpa and ranked first in his graduating class. He served as president of the National Honor Society and as class president in the ninth and 1 1th grades. He was a state runner-up in the Century III Leadership scholarship scho-larship and one of 450 to earn a National Honor Society scholarship. scholar-ship. Eric placed first in moot court competition at HAFB, and was a finalist in Boys' State competition for Boys' Nation. Eric is an Eagle Scout and plans to major in engineering at BYU. JED WOODWORTH Jed Woodworth, son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Woodworth, is a graduate gra-duate of Woods Cross High School. He received the Presidential Presiden-tial Scholarship at Brigham Young University worth two years of full tuition. He has a gpa of 3.928, was Sterling Sterl-ing Scholar in visual arts at Woods Cross High, studentbody artist at the school, involved in Math Club, Key Club and Senate, three-year member of National Honor Society and an Eagle Scout. Jed attended Utah Boys' State, six-time winner of Reflection's Contest in art, completed physical science 100 from Brigham Young University and a member of Davis County School District goals and priorities committee for 1987-88. He studied AP English, AP European History, calculus, seminary, semi-nary, student government and art VI and previously completed AP biology and AP United States History. KARA L. GILLESPIE Kara L. Gillespie, daughter of Roger and LaRee Gillespie, will attend Ricks College on a two-year Presidential Academic Scholarship. Scholar-ship. Other scholarships include Honors at entrance at the University Universi-ty of Utah, Utah State and Weber State College. She has a gpa of 3.85, ACT, 27 and a member of the Honor Society for three years. She has been involved in-volved with Madrigals, Seminary council, drill team, pep club, tennis team, FBLA and secretary for the French Club. WILLIAM D. SHULDBERG William D. (Bill) Shuldberg, son of Noel and Ramona Shuldberg is a Utah State University student. He has received his B.S. degree in geology and is affiliated with Sigma Sig-ma Chi fraternity where he served as annontor of the chapter. He also served as house manager." A 1983 graduate of Woods Cross High, he was active in wrestling and cross country track. He works at JCG Construction in Logan.
