Show . - What's the meaning of John 3-16? By REV. ERIC V. KAELBERER Pastor of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church Most folks, whether they are Christians or not, know the Bible verse, John 3:16. It reads, "God so loved the world that He gave His Only-Begotten Son, that whosoever whosoev-er believeth in Him should not perish per-ish but have everlasting life." A few years ago I ran across something that I'd like to share with you here. I do not know its origin but I am thankful to God that He saw fit that it should be written. It is this same verse explained clearly and simply: God The Greatest Lover, So loved The Greatest Degree, The World The Greatest Company, That He gave The Greatest Act, His Only-Begotten Son The Greatest Gift, That Whosoever The Greatest Opportunity, Believeth Be-lieveth The Greatest Simplicity, In-Him The Greatest Attraction, Should not perish The Greatest Promise, But The Greatest Difference, Dif-ference, Have The Greatest Certainty, Cer-tainty, Everlasting Life The Greatest Possession. Dear Ones, it is my prayer that this verse has found a home in your heart and ife. I pray that you are putting your trust in the only one who is worthy of that trust the Eternal God who loved us enough to send His Only-Begotten Son to die in our place and thus to assure us that: (1) we are loved and (2) that we are free from the curse of sin. I also want to thank, publicly, all who have expressed their love and concern for our family over the past month or so as my wife had a major surgery and is recovering from it. That is why my weekly column was absent during the past few weeks. Thank you, everyone for your love and concern. |
