Show Henry C. Sperry CLEARFIELD Henry Clay Sperry, 72, of 138 Parkway, died Sunday, May 29, 1988 at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden of respiratory failure. He was born July 11, 1915 in Lucas, Kansas, a son of Henry Clay and Kittie Bell Smith Sperry. He married Wilma Caroline RounkJes Dec. 8, 1935 in Salina, Kansas. He retired in 1980, after 27 years of service at Hill Air Force Base in aircraft electric repair. He had lived in Central Kansas and in Clearfield since 1946. He graduated from high school in Lucas, Kansas and attended Weber State College. I He was an active member of the Clearfield Community Church. A veteran of World War II , serving serv-ing with the U.S. Army, he was past commander of the VFW Post No. 8307 anc Post No. 1476 two times. He had been past master of Gateway Lodge No. 29 F&AM, member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite, member of Elkalah Temple in Salt Lake City, member I of the Klunkers Unit of Shrine, past association Guardian Bethel 15, IOJD, worked with Clearfield Chapter DeMolay , recipient of De-Molay De-Molay Cross of Honor, member of Beth-Arabah, Order of Easter Star No. 24, member of Trinity Shrine No. 2 of White Shrine of Jerusalem. Jeru-salem. He was a rockhound, an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are his widow of Clearfield, one son and three daughters, DeWayne H. Sperry, Hooper; Mrs. Katherin E. DuBose, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Earl (Phyllis J.) Hollen and Mrs. Jon (Louise J.) Harris, both of Salt Lake City; he raised his wife's brother and sister, David E. Rounkles, Clearfield; and Mrs. John (Mary Lynn Rounkles) Briggs, Syracuse; 15 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, and nine greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, where military honors were accorded by the VFW Color Guard. Funeral directors, Lindquist's Clearfield Mortuary. |
