Show Class offers gut issues The Department of Physics, through the coordination of Dr. Peter Gibbs, is offering a three quarter series of lectures, titled "Phvsins 100. Science and Society". Soc-iety". The course meets regularly on Fridays from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in OSH auditorium. Additional meetings meet-ings will be scheduled to meet travel plans of distinguished speaker speak-er and listener. A theme of social significance is emphasized each quarter. This year's themes are "Radiation and Man," autumn quarter; "Arms Limitation", winter quarter; and "Futurism", spring quarter. Students taking the one credit course are required re-quired to do a paper. The course may be audited, and there is still plenty of room for interested listeners. list-eners. Dr. Gibbs calls the course a "rare a"d valuable chance" the get the "gut" issues of our time from the scientist doing the real work. "What makes the course unique", says Dr. Gibbs, "is the wide array of differing views one can hear on the same subject. While all the speakers are most instructive, not all agree with one another." |
