Show f OFF THE PRESIDENT'S 1 DESK Year of involvement bDM J To the- graduate, the fifth year senior , the entering freshman, and to the rest of us a hearty welcome. wel-come. School brings a challenge each quarter to routinely remain current with professors and at the same time enjoy probing into new ideas, equations, philosophies, and meeting meet-ing new friends. Student government this year is attempting to make the University a more enjoyable, worthwhile experience ex-perience for each individual student. But to accomplish our aim, we need your ideas and criticisms; in fact we need you. If you have any interest in one or more of the following programs or have new ideas, please stop in the Union and see us. . The following is not just a bird's-eye bird's-eye view of typical programs and ideas, which we as students have or will be working on this fall quarter: (1) Strengthening college student goals; (2) Public Awareness Council; designed to bring the community to our campus. Hopefully, some misconceptions of both the community com-munity and campus can be alleviated al-leviated through this exchange; (3) Creating a Women's Athletic Program; (4) Preparing the Einer Nielsen Fieldhouse for a multipurpose center cen-ter for student use; - (5) To provide meaningful, entertaining enter-taining events to broaden our college col-lege experience; (6) SPECIAL this year's homecoming will be different. Hopefully, Hope-fully, we will involve every student on campus; (7) Outreach community cleanup will again be a highlight; (8) Participation 72 needs your involvement with the candidates of your choice in the 72 elections; (9) A campus-wide busing program pro-gram will be worked out and proposed pro-posed to the administration; (10) The new health insurance was designed to give more service for students. Anyone having questions ques-tions or desiring coverage, please contact Dr. Edison on campus. Thanks to students, Dr. Edison and the administration for working out this tremendous program; (11) A new committee on student participation to instill a wholesome spirit of involvement has been instigated; in-stigated; (12) Through the efforts of the ASUU Assembly, student discounts can still be available at athletic . events, Pioneer Memorial Theatre, musical events, Repertory Dance Theater, recreation, and other student-oriented events. I am confident in a successful fall quarter and even more confident confi-dent in the students who are carrying carry-ing the ball on these programs.
