Show Selection process needs investigation Publications Council has agreed to investigate the procej or lack of procedures, used by Public Affairs Board of the ated Students of University of Utah (ASUU) to choose the sn members of the council. The investigation is in respond charges by Chronicle editor Bill Marling that the "selection cess seems entirely arbitrary." ; According to Mr. Marling, no interviews or contact 0 kind is made with prospective members to see what interest ability they may have. Seven applications are on file inur; zations Board, one dating from November, 1971. These f cations were apparently ignored when the last two menf were appointed. The bylaws of ASUU require membership selection proced to be kept on file for every ASUU committee, but only a pos. mention of the selection process appears in the Publico-Council Publico-Council codification. To correct these errors, Mr. Marling suggested that a ; committee be formed to "investigate the student selection : cedure and to recommend changes to the ASUU. This sube mittee should be formed of Council members appointed b-the b-the irregularities occurred, so as to prevent a conflict of inter: Mr. Marling also filed a complaint against Steve kki' member of the Council who is also Chairman of Programs Be-and Be-and a member of Apportionment Board. ASUU rules state'' no member of an ASUU financial policy-making group cant be a member of the controling council of a group which se ASUU funding.
