Show Faculty call for meeting to consider moratorium Eleven faculty members, eight from the Department of Philosophy have called for a general meeting of the faculty for Wednesday. h acuity regulations provide that 10 faculty members may call for such a meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the resolution: "Resolved: "Re-solved: That the Faculty of the University of Utah calls for a two day Moratorium on Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15 On these days, normal classroom activity will be suspended. Students and 1 faculty are encouraged to devote the two days to discussion of the urgent problems confronting our society. These discussions may take place in regularly scheduled classrooms or outside them, as the students and faculty members shall see fit." According to Jerry Andersen, academic vice president, there is some doubt that the meeting can be scheduled for Wednesday because of the number of meetings already scheduled. However, he said the meeting will be held, possibly on Thursday. The Daily Utah Chronicle will announce the date, time and place. " |
