Show King urges Wednesday campus talks Provost Thomas King, Monday Mon-day evening urged faculty to devote de-vote time Wednesday for class discussion of the issues of the day. He said, "During the past seven days, university campuses across the country have been rocked with violence and disruptions. Monday at noon, a building on our own campus fortunately one scheduled for demolition was destroyed by fire. The symptoms symp-toms of a deep-seeded unrest among faculty and students are manifest in many ways. There seems to be a desperate need for the academic community to analyze ana-lyze itself regarding the basic purpose of a university in these trying times. ' "As Provost of the University, I urge faculty members to devote the 11-12 hour on Wednesday in class discussions, as their convenience con-venience and judgments may dictate, dic-tate, on the agonizing issues of the day. For those faculty not having classes scheduled at that time, I urge you to meet with students in any available forum to discuss these issues," he continued. |
