The Redskins won 10 first places while the Aggies got only six and Idaho State could manage only three. There was a strong wind at times and this was a factor in preventing any outstanding times or distances. Curt Dudnick, however, how-ever, didn't let the wind affect him as he set a school discus record rec-ord while finishing first in that event. Dudnick's toss of 164 feet seven inches broke his own record rec-ord by 10 inches. The wind did affect some other oth-er events, however. For example, Utah's Steve Player won the high jump at only 6-4, several inches below his usual performance. The meet saw quite a number of close, exciting finishes. The 100-yard dash and high hurdles were near photo-finishes, while the 880 and mile relay victors were decided in the last 10 or 20 yards. Utah's Frank Wojtech led ! for most of the 880 and when John Burns of Utah State passed him 50 yards from the tape, Wojtech looked like a sure loser. But he put together a burst of his own to pass Burns at the finish. Randy Doyle was somewhat of a surprise for Utah as he won the grueling six-mile run by about 300 yards. Other winners for Utah were: Bruce Perkins, With a 14-9y2 effort eff-ort to win the pole vault, Don other year I have been at Utah."
