Show Ute netters break even on road Coach. Harry James' Utah tennis team continued its season-opening invasion of Texas with two dual meets over the weekend. The highly regarded Ute netters, coming off a big win over Rice last week, were defeated by Trinity University Friday in a match shortened by rain. Trinity won 4-2 in the meet which saw all three doubles matches cancelled. In the No. 1 singles match Bob MeKinley of Trinity defeated Utah's F. D. Robbins 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Saturday afternoon's meet with SMU was a different story for the Utes, however, as they blanked the Mustangs 9-0. Robbins, Steve Krulevitz, Bill Bennion and Dale Fritz all had easy, two-set victories, while Dan Bleckinger and Dave Harmon had a little more trouble with their opponents before winning. The Utes won all three doubles matches handily. |
