Show iserTs Corner any Girls Drop Out IHARLES P. CLAUSEN year just before fall quar-it quar-it 1,500 sorority girls and play their favorite game of Roulette. Rushing Roulette over four out of every he girls who care enough rush are dropped or drop sal tragedy comes on the ht when the ultimate in , the preference list, is it. The Rushing Roulette vith the houses and the attempting to guess each linds. If they guess wrong 1 lists don't match the girls casualties and do not nything. This happens to to 18 girls every year, hey do pledge they must ;e any other house for a they make a mistake they it the entire year rather than being able to allow the girl to benefit the system in a house that she would be happier in. Many of the problems are common com-mon to both the male and female Greek systems but the sororities are the worst offenders. To clear things up the following corrective measures should be taken: 1. Expand the program of contact con-tact with rushees to convince the girls that all sororities are good. 2. Stop cutting each other's throats and help the weaker houses. The planned expansion of the system sys-tem is ridiculous if houses cannot be kept healthy when they are all ready here. 3. Make rush more personal and less of a "put on." 4. Eliminate preference night and the attendance quota system and allow al-low the sororities to bid whom they please. |
