Averill Harriman, American Ambassador-at-large; j Willard Marriott, restaurant executive, and Grant Johannesen, Johanne-sen, concert pianist. Mr. Harriman, long-recognized as one of the nation's foremost "trouble-shooters" abroad, has served as U.S. Ambassador to both Great Britain and Russia-He Russia-He has been Secretary of Commerce Com-merce and both Assistant Secretary Secre-tary and Undersecretary of State. His interest in Utah affairs af-fairs dates back through long family holdings in the Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Harriman also will be the main speaker it the Commencement exercises. exer-cises. Mr! Marriott, a native Utahn, is founder, chairman of the board and chief executive officer offic-er of Hot Shoppes Inc., a national na-tional restaurant chain headquartered head-quartered in Washington, D.C. He is a franchise holder in the A & W Root Beer Co., and is owner and chairman of the board of Marriott Motor Hotels in Washington, Dallas and Philadelphia. Phila-delphia. His restaurant chair is one of the world's largest caterers of food to airlines and is one of the few authorized food services ser-vices along the fabled New York Thru way. MR, MARRIOTT has served as president of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the University of Utah Alumni Association and has long been recognized as the University's "ambassador" on the east coast. In March he was both host and master of ceremonies cere-monies at the President's Luncheon, Lunch-eon, held as part of the casket-ball casket-ball team's appearance in the NCAA basketball finals. Alumnus Marriott serves on the board of directors for Amer ican Motors and is chairman of the board for Fairfield Farms in Hume, Va. He also serves on the boards of Riggs National Bank, the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Tele-phone Co. and the Acadia Mutual Mu-tual Insurance Co. PIANIST Johannesen, also a native Utahn, has been a recognized recog-nized concert favorite for two decades. He has recorded under major labels and was called by one European critic, "a recital-ist recital-ist who is a thinking musician and poet." In 1963, the UUAA presented him with a Distinguished Alumni Alum-ni Award in tribute, to his worldwide world-wide reputation. He has played in every major city in the United Uni-ted States since his debut in 1944, appearing with the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra Or-chestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
