"Showboat" with all the atmosphere of the Old South and all the excitement of the riverboat days promises an enchanting en-chanting evening for those attending at-tending the Junior Prom. Adding that final touch to make the evening complete will be the featured appearance of Ella Fitzgerald in a two-hour concert before the dance. Pro claimed the best female jazz singer for many years in such publications as "Playboy," "Variety" "Va-riety" and "Downbeat," Miss Fitzgerald will perform her "Blues" and moody style in Kingsbury Hall the night of the 8th. Bob McQueen, chairman of the Jr. Prom stated that the Hall was being used because it accommodations ac-commodations could seat more students than in the Union Build-inc. Build-inc. McQUEEN has urged all students to get their tickets 4 early because of the limited seating seat-ing and he feels that they will move fast. The concert is set for 7:00 with the tickets to be sold first to student and then to non-University non-University people. The tickets for both the Jr. Prom's magic and Miss Fitzger-old's Fitzger-old's jazz style will go on sale Monday, March 28 at noon in the Huddle Ticket Booth. According Ac-cording to the Prom Chairman, tickets will be $3 per person with activity card, or $6 per couple. Without an activity card, the tickets are priced at $5 per person. This price' includes the concert and the dance. Tickets for just the dance are $3 per couple. WITH THE versatile voice of Ella still floating through the right pace for dancing couples. The dance and dress, in accord -mdce with the cultural South, is formal; however, according to Chairman McQueen, men may wear dark suits. Steve Buntjer, decorations chairman of "Showboat" has promised that the Union Ballroom Ball-room will be transformed to depict all the beauty and color of the riverboat days. Refreshments will be served continuously all night in several rooms of the Union Building. All students are urged to park in the Union parking lot. |
