Show Closing Of Stewart To Be Discussed The closing of Stewart School will be discussed Wednesday at the Spring meeting of the University Chapter of the American Association of University Professors. THE MEETING will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the court room of the University Law School, according to Dr. William C. Nutting, AAUP chapter president and professor of Education. All faculty members are invited to attend. THE ANNUAL Spring meeting will feature a panel discussion an the topic, "The Closing of Stewart School: A Case in Point" Vice President Jack H. Adamson will present the Administration's point of view; Stewart School instructor Mrs. Noama T. Rowan will describe ;the closing from the vantage point of the Stewart School faculty; and Dr. Waldemer P. Read, professor of philosophy, will consider the problem as a concerned member of the Univer- sity faculty. The panel will discuss the particular par-ticular combination of circumstances circum-stances which prompeted the closing of the William M. Stewart Stew-art School as an operating unit of the University, whether the academic rights and tenure of faculty members have been abridged,' and whether the situation situa-tion constitutes a precedent for the future closing of other departments. de-partments. New chapter officers will be elected at a brief business meeting meet-ing immediately following the panel discussion, said Dr. Nutting. |
