Show Washington's Army Field Band Appears In Concert Monday A musical concert good enough to be on Broadway will be brought free of charge to Utahns when the U.S. Army Field Band of Washington D.C., plays in Pioneer Memorial Theater, Monday, Mon-day, May 17, at 8:30 p.m. THE LOCAL appeaarnce is being be-ing co-sponsored by the Depart ments of Military Science (Army ROTC) and Music at the University. Uni-versity. The public is invited. Lt. Colonel Robert L. Bierly, Commanding Officer and director direc-tor of-the 100-member organization, organiza-tion, said no admission is ever charged for appearances of the U.S. Army Field Band. SINGING SEVERAL numbers from great musicals in Broadway-chorus style will be the "Soldiers' Chorus." The Chorus is an integral part of the Band and includes a number of instrumentalists. as its musical signature. THE U.S. Army Field Band of Washington D.C., is considered consid-ered by music critics to be one of the most proficient and distinctive dis-tinctive musical organizations now appearing before the public. The concert in Pioneer Memorial Memo-rial Theater will be held one-night one-night only, Monday, May 17 at 8:30 p.m. AT 1 P.M. the following day, the Band will perform in front of Building 1, at the Veterans Administration Hospital for patients pa-tients and interested public. Experienced in playing before large throngs, the Band will offer of-fer a range of musical compositions composi-tions to interest all music lovers. Its light to semi-classical renditions rendi-tions have thrilled audiences in all 50 states as well as in Europe and the Orient. THE BAND is self sufficient as an Army unit and is completely com-pletely mobile so that it can fulfill ful-fill its prime mission of playing in the grassroot communities of the nation. The motto of the Band "We are the Kings of the Highway" is in keeping with the old "Kings of the Highway" song of the Infantry which the Band uses |
