Show Ceremony To Dedicate New Law Building After almost an entire school year's use, the University's new Law Building will finally be dedicated Friday at 2 pjn in the building's courtroom. The dedication ceremonies will be highlighted by the presence of 'dignitaries and a rash of special events. WALTER GELLHORN, Betts professor of law at Columbia University, Uni-versity, will present the fourth annual Leary Lecture to open the ceremonies tonight at 8:45 in Pioneer Memorial Theater. The title of his speech is "A Decade of Desegregation . . . Retrospect and Prospect." The Leary Lecture is one of several events that will be presented pre-sented in recognition of the University Uni-versity Law Building dedication. MR. Gellhorn graduated from Amhurst University in 1937 and received his law degree from Columbia in 1941. After graduation from law school, Mr. Gellhorn served as law secretary to Justice Harlan F. Stone, who later became a Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Following work in this position, pos-ition, Mr. Gellhorn served in the office of the Solicitor General, Gen-eral, United States Department of Justice. He also has held numerous other government positions. He has served as a member of the Council of the Administration Administra-tion Conference of thee United States and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was president of the Association of American Law Schools in 1963. MR. Gellhorn is an authority in the field of administrative law and has written extensively in that field. A moot court will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Courtroom. Court-room. The participants will be graduate students and the ses- sion will be held for the benefit bene-fit of pre-law students. |
