Show News of Interest from the Elementary School By LINDA SHERWOOD end PAMELA EDWARDS NEW BOOKS Mrs- Peterson's fourth grade appreciates the 15 new library books brought in by the Library Li-brary Committee. Eight belong to tile American Adventure series. The stories about the Indians fit in with our study of the First Thanksgiving. One was "Squanto and the Pilgrims." In Mrs. Smith's kindergarten we are starting to learn Christmas Christ-mas songs, poems, and finger i plays. . SOCIAL STUDIES Mrs. Bond's second grade is learning about the Pilgrims in Social Studies class. We would like to learn how they built their homes, churches, how they ' got their food, clothes, light and furniture. We are making a picture of them. We are also learning about the Pilgrims' First Thanksgiving. MORE MEASLES Three people in our room (Mrs. Roberts' Second - Third Grade) have measles now We hope no more boys and girls get them- The third grade is learning to multiply. The second grade people are enjoying some new books called "Read Another Story." In Mr. Fisher's Fourth grade room we have a display board, and on the board we have Thanksgiving pictures. SIXTH GRADE (Mr. Bell and Mrs. Elmer) j In Mrs. Elmer's class we joined Mr. Atkin's class, in the i gym, and danced. It was the first gym period for us. In Mr. Bell's class we are working on fractions. Monday we are going to change arithmetic. arith-metic. Mr.. Atkin's Fifth grade is preparing a frieze showing the pioneers traveling to Oregon-We Oregon-We shall. also dramatize scenes showing pioneers camped for the night, preparing their evening eve-ning meal, and talking, singing and dancing around their camp- fire. MRS. BELL'S THIRD GRADE All the students in class wrote a report about the Pilgrims Pil-grims and how they came tq America on the Mayflower, and h9d the first Thanksgiving. We : recorded each report on the recorder re-corder and it was interesting to hear our own voices. We won the P.-T. A. Attendance Attend-ance Banner for having the most fathers at the last P.-T. A. meeting. |
