Show birthday, May 17th. 9 Arthur Lightncr was in town Saturday, attending the funeral of John Kelsey. Mr. Lightner has lived in Parowan the past winter. Albateen Roberts (Held Over from Last Week) The new concrete-lined irrigation ir-rigation canal has been completed com-pleted and water for irrigation irriga-tion was turned into the ditches on April 30th. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Goff and tamily traveled to Salt Lake Friday to celebrate the birthday of their son Dan, at his grandparents' grand-parents' home. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Harley and two sons are here visiting at their home and seeing relatives rela-tives and friends. They reside at Bingham, where they are employed. Mrs. Harley is the lovely Lola Roberts, a well known "Punkin Roller." She attended Sunday School and gave a short but sweet talk, saying how good it seemed to be back home again. They purchased pur-chased the William Roberts home, Lola's birthplace. Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Wickel of Holliday spent a few days here the last ol the week attending at-tending the funeral of her brother, John Kelsey. They also visited relatives and friends and attended Sunday School. The couple left Sunday afternoon after-noon for their home. Our chapel here cordially welcomed another trophy here this past week .which the Senior Sen-ior M Men won at Cedar City as champion volley ball players. play-ers. Also of notable mention our Junior M Men won a second place trophy at Cedar City, win ning over Cedar City, then a Las Vegas team came with a bang and stole the championship champion-ship honestly from the boys. Friday night a carnival, bazaar ba-zaar and program was very well attended and enjoyed by the public, sponsored by the town for recreation sports Food sales was the highlight of the evening, eve-ning, according to the kids We have received word that our son, A2c Sonnie Lynn Roberts, will be flying from Anchorage, Alaska, to his bape at March Field, Calif. He writes that he will be happy to get back to dear old California, but will be a great deal happier hap-pier when September comes and he returns to Minersville after spending four years in the Air Force. o Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Gray and three small sons returned Sunday from a trip to California Califor-nia after visiting their children, Mr. and Mrs. (Virlene) Yardley. They report a wonderful trip touring the California cities. Friday was clean-up day at the Minersville school grounds. The morning was nice, but the afternoon was rainy and cold, (so the boys and girls played baseball to take up their time. The seventh and eighth grade, are attending school Saturdays from 7 until 1:30, to enjoy their teacher, Garth Fisher, the remainder re-mainder of the year. The students stu-dents have grown to love Mr. Fisher and do hate to see him |
