Show XMAS LIGHTS WILL BE TURNED ON SATURDAY Milford's 1955 Christmas lights will officially glow at 6 p. m. Saturday, Dec. 10th, it was announced today by Mrs. Grace Jefferson, Lady Lions president. The Lady Lions accepted responsibility from the Cily Council for the Christmas program this year. Lighting and decorating contests con-tests will again be featured, Mrs. Jefferson said, with cash prizes in both business house and reid.ntial classification. "Judges will be selected, and amounts of the prizes will be announced later," Mrs. Jefferson Jeffer-son said. Financing of the Christmas program was begun -ith a $150 appropriation from the City Council. It was also announced by Mrs. Jefferson that additional addi-tional funds would come from a "kitty" at the Union Pacific Depot, and solicitation of Main Street merchants. The traditional huge Christmas Christ-mas tree will be erected at the Bank Corner, and Santa Claus will pass out stockings to the k-ddies "sometime between now and Chsistmas," Mrs. Jefferson said. A portion of the funds will be used to purchase music bocks for the Junior Oratorio Society, to be used in singing Christmas Carols. Also, Mrs. Jefferson said, they will purchase pur-chase music for the planned Easter Cantata which the- society so-ciety vill present. |
