Show CITY DADS RAISE EMPLOYE PAY, PASS DOG ORDINANCE Only two items of major business bus-iness came up at the regular City Council meeting Monday. Routine payment of bills and discussion of the budget for 1956 occupied part of the time. Salaries of some employes were slightly increased for the coming year, including Karl Hanney, raised to 310.00 a month; Fred O'Leary, raised to $310; Carlyle Stott, raised to $265, and Vernon Burns, raised to $265. -The council also passed a dog control ordinance or "leash law," which prohibits dogs from running at large at night. Under terms of the ordinance no dog shall run at large between be-tween the hours of 8 p. m. and 9 a. m.,; any dog running at large between those hours, licensed li-censed or unlicensed, may be shot by the city marshal. The councilmen pointed out that this is a control measure, and they had no desire to kill anyone's hunting dog, watch dog, or pet. If a dog gets loose, the owner should phone the marshal and advise him the dog has escaped and give a complete description. Then, if the marshal sees the dog, he will inform the owner instead of shooting it. |
