Show BENNETT ASKS STUDENT MILITARY SERVICE CHOICE Reactions of Utah's young men to military manpower proposals pro-posals before Congress is being sought by Sen. Wallace F. Bennett Ben-nett The Utah lawmaker said he was sending questionnaires to about 10.000 Beehive State high school students asking them to list in order of preference their ihoiccs of four plans now under un-der congressional scrutiny. High ' school principals have been asked to circulate and return the questionnaires. "While we don't know what form the legislation may finally fin-ally take, there are some likely possibilities," he said. "In general, gen-eral, they involve enlistment, induction, various reserve and National Guard programs, and so called U M T." He said he also wanted to know if the young men of his stale wanted to take their military mili-tary training in Utah or in camps away from home. "I'm sure that the results of this poll among the young men who'll be involved personally will be most helpful to me," Sen. Bennett said. He added that he knew of no other official legislative attempts at-tempts to learn the Viewpoint of draft-eligible young nun in. the nation. |
