Henry Al-j dous Dixon on the powerful and I important Agriculaural Committee. Com-mittee. The announcement was made in a news release from Washington this week. Congressman Dixon conducted conduct-ed a whirlwind 10-day campaign cam-paign last fall which upset all of the political dopesters when he was elected. At the opening of the 84th Congress, there were only two vacancies on the Agriculture Agri-culture Committee in the House. Congressman Dixon, being be-ing a member of the minority party and a freshman representative, represent-ative, had only a slim chance of being appointed to one of the more important committees. "The appointment came to me as a great surprise," Cong. Dixon said. "However, the as-s;gnment as-s;gnment will afford me an opportunity op-portunity to support Secretary Benson where he needs support in the committee, and to assist as-sist in the formulation, delense and clarification of his program when changes are made necessary neces-sary thru new situations arising." |
