Show AMERICAN LEGION SPONSORS ANNUAL JULY FOURTH CELEBRATION; KIDS TO HAVE FUN ALL DAY, FIREWORKS AT NIGHT A full day of fun for the kids has been planned for Friday, July Fourth, according to Perry Olsen, Commander Com-mander of Milford's American Legion Post. All the "regular features" of July Fourth in Milford will be included, in-cluded, Commander Olsen said, and a few new ones added to make the day more enjoyable for the youngsters. J. A. Kirk Jr. is general chairman of the ceelebration The day's activities will get off to a 9:30 a. m. start, when children's races will be run in Library Park, Mr. Kirk said. , There will be races and con-:' con-:' tests for all age groups, with prizes for the winners, i At 11 o'clock, all the kids will I file into the Firmage Theater for a one-hour, all-cartoon free i show. j The swim pool will open at 1 o'clock for a free children's swim, and adequate lifeguards i will be on hand to assist Coach Neal if any of the children get in too deep. A free children's dance will begin at 3 o'clock in the Legion open-air pavilion. At 4 p. m., Milford's Junior Legion baseball team will meet the Beaver team in the first official game of the season. All children 12 years old and under will be admftted free to the ballgame. The Junior Legionnaires have played only one game this season, sea-son, defeating Cedar City 21-16 i in a practice game at Cedar on June 20th. Bob Davis is Legion athletic officer, in charge of the Junior Baseball program. At 9 p. m., a stupendous display dis-play of fireworks will be set off at the fairgrounds. The City Council Coun-cil invited the Legion to sponsor spon-sor the event, and the merchants ' of Milford contributed money ' for fireworks, prizes, etc. |
