Show BEAVER YOUTH WINS SECOND IN TELLURIDE CONTEST The first Rural Electrification Contest sponsored by Telluride Power Company has just come to a successful conclusion with the naming of Young Farmer Howard How-ard Yardley of Gunnison, first place winner, and F F A member mem-ber Marvin White of Beaver, second place winner. The contest Was open to all bona fide members of Young Farmers, Future Farmers and 4-H Club organizations who reside re-side in the territory served by Telluride Power Co. The pri-mory pri-mory purpose of the contest was to provide rural farm youth with a better understanding of electricity and how it can best serve agriculture. The educational educa-tional organizations cooperating with Telluride Power in promoting promot-ing the objectives of the program pro-gram have enjoled the specialized special-ized services of farm power con-ultants, con-ultants, Reeds Nixon and Jay F. Gardner, the past year. Mr. White of Beaver has had considerable experience the past year in constructing and operating operat-ing a radio station in the Beaver Beav-er High school. He has also wired a garage, and Grade A milk barn, and has completed a number of smaller electrical jobs about the farm. He holds the State Farmer degree in the F F A organization and at this year's state F F A convention was named winner of the State Rural Electrification Contest. The two winning contestants I will receive their awards at a Sanpete County Young Farmer meeting at Moroni on Thursday evening, June 26. Mr. Yardley will receive a Sunbeam Mix-master Mix-master and Mr. White an electric elec-tric appliance valued at $25. Mr. Jay F. Gardner of Telluride Tellu-ride Power Co. reports that the program will be repeated next year, and hopes that as a result more farm youth will become better acquainted with electricity electric-ity and how it can best serve agriculture's needs. |
