Show Minersville News MINERSVILLE TO HAVE KID PARADE ON JULY FOURTH Under direction of Mrs. Ruth Dotson, the Auxiliary to the American Legion has again been asked by the Town Board to sponsor the July Fourth program and the day's events. The theme carried out this year will be in the form of miniature floats. All merchants and buzs-iness buzs-iness houses are expected to enter displays and the general public is invited to participate in making this Fourth an outstanding out-standing occasion. In charge of the day's activities activi-ties will be several committees, with the following chairmen: Program, Mrs. Lynnea Marshall; Mar-shall; parade, Mrs. Gertrude Marshall; queen entry, Mrs. Emily Gillins; noon lunch, Mrs. Wilma Myers; afternoon refreshments, refresh-ments, Mrs. Athene Roberts, Mrs. Anna Rae Carter, Mrs. Barbara Gressman, Mrs. Virginia. Marshall. Selection of a sports chairman has. not yet been made, All twelfth grade girjs are eligible to enter as contestants for queen, and votes will be cast at lc each, with posters and containers placed in various business houses. Numerous "happy birthday" wishes were given to Mrs. Alta Hollingshead, 75, on Tuesday, who was honored at a family dinner at the home of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Al-brecht. Born June 25, 1878, at Minersville, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. George Marshall, Aunt Altie has enjoyed a full life, and participates in as many activities as her health will permit. per-mit. Married to Stephen Hollingshead, Hol-lingshead, the couple have reared a fine family and are proud of their 13 grandchildren. A kindly and affectionate person, per-son, Mrs. Hollingshead has a host of friends of which she can be proud. , Also on the "happy birthday" list was Gayle Truman, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Truman, Tru-man, who observed her eighth birthday on Sunday. A host of friends enjoyed the birthday party on Sunday and Gayle received re-ceived many nice remembrances. Sandwiches, cupcakes, candy and punch were the refrseh-ments. refrseh-ments. Clinton Ray Boyter, son of -Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Boyter, observed his ninth birthday on Saturday. A glorious time was enjoyed at the birthday party and many gifts were received. Stan Fisher of Midvale, son of Mrs. M. D. Fisher, recently underwent un-derwent an operation in a Salt Lake hospital. : Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Green of Las Vegas, Nev., were overnight guests at the home of a sister, Mrs. Fontella Dotson, recently. Mr. and Mrs. Lorraine (Pat) Dotson of Springville are here spending a vacation. While here Mrs. Dotson, has the home of Joe E. Eyre, her father. Mrs. Eulalie Davis, JoAnne and Billy; accompanied by Mrs. Martha Beaumont of Beaver, returned re-turned Sunday after spending a wonderful three weeks vacationing vacation-ing in Seattle and along the coast. Two sisters visited were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lott of Tracyton, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Dorius Warner at Portland, Ore. Max Dalton, son of Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Marshall, who was recently re-cently home on furlough, is now stationed at Great Lakes, 111., with the Nvy. Max looked fine in his navy uniform and spent a ijusy 10 days visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Mac Armstrong of Cedar City were visitors Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dotson enjoyed en-joyed a fishing trip to Panguitch Lake over the week-end. Mrs. Nellie Hollingshead spent last week at Heber City visiting her mother and sisters. Her husband, Marshall, returned home with her on the weekend. week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Browner, Annette and Gary J. were in town Sunday proudly displaying their newly-arrived son. Dinner was enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Eyre along with Mrs. Alba Gillins and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Gillins. Mrs. Elaine Ryan of Salt Lake is here visiting and to enjoy the Albrecht reunion which began June 25 at the Elghorn Ranger Station near Fishlake. Mr. and Mrs. Burnel McAffee of Payson have been here enjoying en-joying a vacation with Mrs. Chloe Davis and other relatives. |
