Show NEXT SATURDAY IS POPPY DAY Saturday will be Poppy Day in Mi'ford and thruout the United Unit-ed States. Millions of Americans Amer-icans will observe the day by wearing Memorial Poppies in honor of the nation's war ripad , and by making contributions I for the welfare of war's living victims, the disabled veterans and needy children of veterans. Women and girls of the American Amer-ican Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Aux-iliary will be on the streets from early morning with baskets bas-kets of crepe paper poppies made by disabled veterans, offering of-fering everyone an opportunity to pay individual tribute to the war dead by wearing one of the little red memorial flowers. No price will be asked for the poppies pop-pies but contributions to the rehabilitation and child welfare funds of the Auxiliaries will be received. All of the poppy workers will be unpaid volunteers, giving their services for the dual purpose pur-pose of honoring the dead and aiding the disabled. |
