This week, six Milford High school students were dropped from the basketball squad after they had admitted to Coach Neal that they were not observing trainin rules. These students were considered the main-stays of the squad. Coaches long, long ago were employed by schools to teach students physical education, educa-tion, develop their bodies, and to teach sportsmanship. But today to-day coaches seem to be hired to develop winning teams. School supporters are pretty radical these days, and place too much emphasis on winning ball games and wagers. And when squad j members refuse to conform to ordinary training rules, they are hurting their bodies, their supporters, sup-porters, and their coach. We admire Coach Neal for his determination to see that the Milford squad is in condition condi-tion when they take the floor against an opponent, and able to do their best for the entire game not just the first quarter. And we sincerely hope the Milford fans will support the young- i sters who will faithfully represent repre-sent their school, their fans, and their coach when they wear the school colors on the basketball floor. The "abbreviated" Milford Tigers play Hinckley at Hinckley Hinck-ley Friday evening. Thirty good seats have been reserved for Tiger backers. Fans should ask for seats in the Milford section sec-tion at the gate. Ben Briscoe is walking to work these days, and Judy is having her groceries delivered. 1 Monday evening Ben parked his car on the hill next to the Briscoe home ,and 10 minutes later the automobuggy was balanced on the retaining wall in front of the White home. Eddie Anderson and his wrecker took the car off the retaining re-taining wall without major damage, dam-age, but it's taking a little while to repair it. |
