Show Vera Bryner, Television Star, To Appear on Summer Program Vera Bryner, beautiful brunet sensation of opera, concert and television, will appear in both hit shows of the annual Uni- " versity of Utah Summer Festival in July, Festival directors said today. Russian-born daughter of the late Swiss consul to Manchuria, Man-churia, Miss Bryner spent her early childhood in the Far East. She studied piano under her mother, who was an alumna of the Petrograd Conservatory of Music, and had received wide critical - .; -.. - ''- ' . I icclaim as a pianist by the time' ;'-e was 12. Moving to Paris, Vliss Bryner studied the piano :J turned to opera, studying joice under Mme. Gilly and .hama under A. Dolinoff. She made her theatrical debut vith the Russian Theater of "'aris and was signed for the ...uding roles in both "Madame ."lu lei fly" and "Faust" with the ciiipany when World War II forced the disbandment of the troupe. Miss Bryner's first major "break" in America came when she appeared as Tatiana in "Eugeiie Onegin," a role she repeated for the New York City Center Opera Co. in 1946. Since then she has appeared with many major opera companies. Miss Bryner will sing An-tonia An-tonia in "The Merry Widow" July 9 through 14 in Stadium Bowl, and Jiulietta in "Tales of VERA BRYNER Hoffmann" on July 19, 20 and 21. Her co-star in both shows will be Robert Rounseville. |
