Mr. Ross has been active in church and civic affairs and is at present chaplain of the Beaver Beav-er Post of the American Legion. He is an elder in the Beaver I Third L D S Ward. I Mr. and Mrs. Ross has three t sons. when they quickly "covered" three armed men riding in an . auto with West Virginia license i plates, who had bought grocer-1 ies and gasoline at both Meadow and Levan without paying fot the merchandise. Patro'man Barton was notified noti-fied by officers from Millard county to watch for this particular partic-ular car and apprehend the men. Barton and Nowers rode as far north as Wildcat before they observed the car. When they were halted one of the men attempted to reach a gun, but the Beaver officers had them covered. A search of the car disclosed an Austrian made automatic pistol, pis-tol, and a large quantity of ammunition. am-munition. Two U. S. Va., and Frank Butler, 21, of Frankfort, Frank-fort, N. C. The three men were lodged in the Beaver County jail awaiting federal action. They stated the car was loaned to them by a friend. ,.. ... Patrolman Barton investigated investigat-ed a traffic accident seven miles south of Beaver last Friday, in which Nels Jensen, 53, of St. George, was critically injured. Mr. Jensen, driving a jeep and trailer, apparently went to sleep at the wheel and the jeep and trailer rolled over .A son, Max Jensen, was slightly injured. Mr. Jensen died Sunday evening eve-ning in the Iron County hos pital. Burt Milne of St. George, i Lions district governor, visited the Beaver Lions club Monday and gave an interesting talk on conditions of the various clubs throughout the district. Marvin Spendlove, commander command-er of the Beaver American Legion Le-gion post, reports that quite a number of Legionnaires will go to Cedar City Saturday evening for the mass rally in the public school auditorium where Earle Cocke, national commander of the Legion, will talk. This is the first time a national commander com-mander has visited Southern Utah. Mrs. Milo Baker and son Nolan No-lan visited in Logan last weekend, week-end, with Wendell and Joan Baker and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. D. Farnsworth, formerly of Cedar City, were the speakers at the Third Ward Sunday evening. They are going go-ing to maks their home for the winter in Beaver. Thompson, Tom Holyoak, George Mitchell, Mel Hesling-ton, Hesling-ton, West Barton, Elmer Paice and Alton Atkin. Mayor Clarence A. Kirkham and family enjoyed a visit from his mother, Mrs. Mary Kirkham of Ogden. Warren C. Thompson has been made second counselor to Allen C. Reynolds, b;shop of Beaver Second Ward, filling the vacancy caused by. the resignation resigna-tion of LaVar Willden. Beaver Third Ward MIA held a harvest ball Tuesday evening in the ward amusement hall. The hall was decorated with beautiful colored leaves and everyone had a jolly time. William B. Gillies of Milford was a Beaver visitor Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Yardley and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Yardley returned re-turned home Saturday after spending 15 days touring Eastern East-ern United States. Mrs. Vie Black and family spent the week-end visiting relatives rel-atives in Escalante. Mrs. Ruby McMullin, Anna-bell Anna-bell and Elsie Hales spent the week-end visiting relatives in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Nell Low spent several days visiting in Salt Lake City and attending the wedding of her nephew, Bill Low, last week. Mrs. Alverta Kiser attended the annual convention of Utah Associated Beauticians at the Hotel Utah Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. |
