Show DEAR VETS... By HELPFUL HUB The American Legion will as-v as-v sist all local Vets in applying for their National Service Life Insurance dividends. This was announced today by Gerald M. Hickman, commander of the Milford Post No. 16 of the Department De-partment of Utah. I Our post will have the necessary neces-sary applications which veterans veter-ans will have to make to the VA to get their NSLI dividends, Commander Hickman said. All veterans who held their NSLI policy for 90 days or more will have a refund coming. The VA expects to pay out approximately approxi-mately $2,800,000,000 in these Application blanks for vets to fill out in order to obtain refunds of overpayments on NSLI, and Legion Adjutant Wally Mastros, will be on hand at The Milford News, Thursday and Friday, Sept 1 and 2. Any veterans who wish to take advantage of this American Legion assistance may stop in at The News office of-fice between 10 a. m. and 2 p. m., Sept .1 and 2, and Wally will assist them in filling out the forms. refunds. Payments per veteran - v are expected to average about $175, according to the VA. Applications Ap-plications should be filed as quickly as (possible because it will take weeks and months for a veteran to get his refund check. The American Legion will put on the biggest manhunt in history in trying to locate vets who are eligible for the NSLI refunds. The VA estimates than some 16 million veterans are entitled to NSLI refunds, Commander Hickman said. Actually today the VA has the home address of only six million eligible vets. The American Legion will help to locate 10 million others. Forms will be received by the Milford Legion Post about Wednesday, Aug. 31. Bring your discharge papers, or insurance papers, as exact information is necessary, and improper dates or other data will delay receipt of your check. |
