Show THIS WEEK IN MINERSVILLE By JOY GARDNER Mrs. Max R. Carter spent the week of Feb. 28-March 4 in Logan, Lo-gan, attending the 13th annual 4-H Leaders State Training school, which was held on the campus of the Utah State Agri-cutural Agri-cutural College. The week was filled with continuous con-tinuous activities, consisting of lectures, teaching, and other 4-H projects such as clothing, cooking, home improvement, etc. Along with this came dancing and singing as recreation, which was very much enjoyed by the nearly 200 people attending, attend-ing, who came from all parts of the state. While in Logan Mrs. Carter visited friends and relatives, including in-cluding Mr. and Mrs. Lester Po-eock Po-eock and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hammond. Anna Rae reports that she enjoyed en-joyed the week very much and that she wished every 4-H leader lead-er in the state could attend this outstanding school. Never would she have known the vastness and importance of the 4-H Club work had she not attended the week of schooling, she said. Mrs. Carter wishes to thank Mr. Grant Esplin for making the trip possible and for helping to make such a success of the entire stay. Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Williams, David and Mrs. Cora Goodwin were in Cedar City Monday, attending at-tending to business. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Marshall, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gressman spent a few days in Arizona recently, re-cently, at the horse 'races. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Carter are the proud parents of a baby boy, born March 7th, at Beaver. Karl Truman will be confined to his home for a few days with an injured knee, which he received re-ceived while unloading a grain chopper. Bishop Ruben Dotson, who has been at the Veterans Hospital Hos-pital the past three weeks, is happy tc be home. Mrs. Vance Marshall spent the wet'krend at Junction, visiting visit-ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Price. Beaver High school presented "Chimes of Normandy," an opera op-era in two acts, Saturday the 5th. It was well played and very entertaining. James Grant Wood is home on a 10-day leave from the Naval Air Station at San Diego, visiting visit-ing his parent, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wood. AnnuaHjmeeting of the Min-ersville Min-ersville Land and Livestock Co. was held Monday. New officers were elected. . Mrs. Edith Armstrong of Cedar City has been visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Murdock. "Mac" arrived ar-rived Tuesday for a short visit with his wife and parents-in-law. Craig Marshall and Shirley Gillis were married at Beaver, March 7th. Craig is the son of Mrs. Augusta Marshall of Min-ersville, Min-ersville, and Shirley is the dauhgter of Mr. and Mrs Pete Gillis of Beaver. There was a large reception held that night, with many Minersville friends and relatives in attandence. The couple received many lovely gifts. They will make their home in Minersville. The Minersville "City Dads" motored to Salt Lake Wednesday, Wednes-day, to purchase a road grader for the town of Minersville. |
