Show i Of Interest to W omen IT BEING the birth anniversary anniver-sary of Mrs. Jim Rollins, February Febru-ary 24th, and Janet Walker, March 2nd, the family gathered at the home of the Walkers and celebrated the occasion. A sumptuous dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grimes and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rolhns, Mrs. Dalton Fails and children of Miners-s Miners-s ville, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rol- lins and children, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Walker and children, and Mrs. Nonie Walker. Lovely gifts were presented to Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Rollins. MONDAY EVENING Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen was hostess to the Monday Nite club. The guests were seated at the long table and placecards were laid for Mrs. Marion Hughes, Mrs. , D. E. Kirk, Mrs. A. O. Williams, Jl Mrs. Ross Palmer, Mrs. Wil- r liam Cochrane, Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs. Selar Hutchings and the hostess. Bridge was played, with club prize going to Mrs. Nielsen, high points to Mrs. Hughes, honors, Mrs. Hutchings, and consolation, Mrs. Kirk. ESCALANTE A U X ILIARY 1546 was honored by the official visit of four of the Department officers at its regular meeting, Tuesday, March 8th. A banquet was served at the Catholic church, with 30 members and guests present. The occasion was also the fifteenth birth anniversary an-niversary of the Auxiliary. The U-shaped tables were very pretty with a centerpiece of tulips, lighted candles and an attractive card bearing the inscription in-scription "Fifteen Years." Commander Com-mander W. G. White was pres ent and made an interesting talk recalling the early days of the Post as well as the Auxiliary. He paused to pay tribute to the members who had passed on. President Norma Walters introduced in-troduced the visitors and all officers of-ficers of the Auxiliary. Mrs. Frances Murphy was initiated in an impressive ceremony. cere-mony. The different standing committees gave their reports and the Department President complimented the Auxiliary on their work. The Department presented the Auxiliary with a $5 bill to add to their Memorial Fund ,and each visitor gave a lovely gift for the cedar chest, also to be used to. raise the remainder re-mainder of the fund. Mrs. Susan Glenn gave the Auxiliary a beautiful pair of hand-made pillow slips to be raffled off. President Walters thanked the ladies for their kindness kind-ness and generosity, and then presented the Department President Pres-ident with a gift from the Auxiliary. Aux-iliary. Election of officers was held, with the following ladies being named to office for the coming year: Mrs. Susan Murdock, president; pres-ident; Mrs. Lucille Raines, senior sen-ior vice president; Mrs. Aleen Barnes, junior vice president; Mrs. Jeanette Kohler, chaplain. Mrs. Ethel Smith was named treasurer for a third term; Mrs. Lillian Atkin, conductress; Mrs. Maude Armstrong, guard, and Mrs. Norma Walters, three-year trustee. President-elect Murdock Mur-dock will make her appointments appoint-ments at the next meting. Department President Mrs. Clara Morgan of Ogden thanked the Auxiliary for their hospitality. hospital-ity. Mrs. Martelle Aldridge, department secretary and past president, also made a few remarks, re-marks, as did Mrs. Eva Edwards, senior vice president, from Sug-arhouse, Sug-arhouse, and Mrs. Clara McFad-den, McFad-den, department patriotic instructor, in-structor, of Salt Lake, who is also a member of this Auxiliary. The members then returned to the church and enjoyed a bowl of very refreshing punch served by Father Valine, with home made cake and coffee donated do-nated by the members. All enjoyed an hour of chatting chat-ting with the visitors over the coffee and cake. Mrs. S. E. Pitchforth and Mrs. W. G. White, with President Walters, met the ladies at the train and entertained them during dur-ing their stay in Milford. WILMA WESTON gave a party Monday evening. Bridge was played, and a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess host-ess after cards. High score prize was won by Maudell Crane, second high by Mabel Westergard, and low by Ina Norton. Cut prize went to Verg Goodwin. Other guests were Phyllis Keetch, Dorothy Kizer, Toni Uffens, Leah Pullem, Pat Baker, Hazel Hillman and Rae Anderson. Ander-son. Proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fotheringham. A son was born to the couple in Van Nuys, Calif., Sunday, March 6th. Little Rita Ann is also very happy over the birth of her new brother. |
