Show TIGERS YIN FROM DELTA IN FINAL ' QUARTER: MEET BEAVER NEXT The T,"gers put on a final ' stanza drive Wednesday evening eve-ning to dethrone the Delta , Rabbits when they invadad Milford, and throw the Millard Mil-lard division into a three-way tie for first place. The actual standings have Delta and the Beavers tied for first, with the Tigers a few percentage points behind, because of the posl-poned posl-poned game with Hinckley. Getting off to a good start, the local squad took a 6-0 lead after four minutes of play, before Delta scratched their side of the scoreboard. But the Rabbits went to work then, and pulled up to 11-13 at the quarter. The halftime score was 22-22, and the third-period score was 34-34. Beginning the last quarter, Coach Neal's charges began slowly pulling away. At the rest period they had a 43-39 lead, and that was all the scoring for the Rabbits. Milford put on a beautiful stall that had the Del-tans Del-tans fouling when they tried to break it up, and except for one more foul shot, Milford didn't add any more counters but protected pro-tected their lead. It was a wonderful display of effective teamwork, and the Milford Mil-ford fans were delighted with the smooth operation of the squad. By far the best game they've played this season, the Tigers will be district champions if they turn in the same performances perform-ances at their remaining games. Friday night they play Millard Mil-lard at Fillmore, and on next Wednesday, February 23, they play at Hinckley. This is the only open date on the Hinckley Hinck-ley schedule when the postponed post-poned game can be played. Coach Neal would have preferred pre-ferred a date which did not force the Tigers to play another an-other game the same week as the Beaver classic, but it was impossible to postpone the game any longer. A rundown of the final quarter quar-ter of Wednesday's game follows: fol-lows: It was Milford's ball out of bounds. Kent passed in to Clyde, who dribbled in for a basket. Before Delta could get the ball past the center line Ted intercepted and sank another, to give the Tigers a 38-34 lead. A foul was called on Turner, but the Rabbit shooter missed. Kent missed a foul try. Sheriff missed a free throw after he was fouled by Coon. Kent intercepted and passed the ball to Ted, who sank one from the sidelines. Crane made a free-throw good, and Sheriff sank a basket for Delta. The score was 41-36. Ted pitched another beauty after Kent and Barnes worked the ball down and fed it to him. Barnes missed his chance when he and Horton were called on a double foul. Horton sank his to make the tally 43-37. Kent missed a foul try. Delta took the ball off the bank board, worked it down and missed a set-up and several tip-in tries. Crane finally fin-ally went up high enough to get the ball, but th eTigers losl it on a double-dribble. Sheriff sank another for Delta, and Kent's shot rolled around the rim before falling off. After Delta missed another foul try they recovered the ball and had possession at the rest period. Only score after the rest came when Barnes made good a charity char-ity toss. Then the boys went into a stall, and effectively held the ball for the greater part of the last three minutes. Hunter and Warner, both of Fillmore, did an excellent job of officiating. If this combination combi-nation stays together, they will be greatly in demand and possibly will turn into another Beale and Beale team. They deserve credit for an excellent job of officiating.
