Show BRUSH FIRES jPLAGUE TELLURIDE Three brush fires, reportedly reported-ly started by land owners burning brush ofi their property, prop-erty, caused Telluride Power Company employes a great amount of "grief" and extra work the past week, it was reported re-ported by Clif McShane. On Friday, three poles were destroyed de-stroyed south of Elsinore and six on the Milford flats, and on Saturday one pole and some line was' lost near Aurora. The Milford fire called out scores of fire fighters .including the Milford Volunteer department, depart-ment, who battled the flames, whipped by an unusually high wind, for several hours. Had it not been for an irrigation canal meandering across the burning area, the flames could not have been controlled. In cautioning landholders regarding re-garding burning brush when high winds make controlling the fires more difficult, Mr. Mct Shane pointed out that investigations investiga-tions are under way to determine cause of the fires, and in all cases where the fires were set deliberately, or due to negligence, negli-gence, the person responsible will be handed a bill for damage to power lines and poles. |
