High prize was won by Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Schramm, second high by Pauline Rummler, for the members, mem-bers, with Jeanette Kohler taking tak-ing first prize for the guests, and Helen Leech the second high. THE AMERICAN Legion Auxiliary Aux-iliary July meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Ruth Mc-Whorter, Mc-Whorter, at 8 o'clock, Monday, July 21. THE GABBRIDGETTES met at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Keetch last Wednesday evening. A luncheon was served at 8 o'clock, after which pinochle was played. Rae Anderson received the high, prize and Verg Goodwin, Good-win, consolation. Others present were Dorothy Kizer, Dorothy Morris, Toni I Uffens, Maudell Came, and an invited guest, Wilma Weston. WEDNESDAY evening a party was given at the home of Mrs. Mary McCulley, in honor of Mrs. Ramona Jones, who is leaving :n the near future to make her home in Salt Lake City. - During the evening, bridge was played, with Mrs. Marion Miller winning high prize and Mrs. McCulley, low. Mrs. Jones l-pceived a lovely vase and jar-diner jar-diner as a going-away gift. At midnight a salad course was served on tables which had beautiful beau-tiful certerpieces of sweetpeas and carnations. Guests included Mrs. Ramona Jones, Mrs. Vera Ross, Mrs. Marion Mar-ion Miller, Mrs. Helen Bracken, Mrs. Mary - McCulley, Mrs. Maudell Crane, Mrs. Ray Anderson, Ander-son, Mrs. Mabel Westergard and Mrs. Johnny Walker. IN A SETTING of beautiful flowers, a trousseau tea was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Smith, in honor oi their daughter, Leah Mae, whc was married at the St. Gerge L. D. S. Temple, on July 15th, to Mr. Robert Gray Holmes. Mrs. Rudolph Nielsen, Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. Milton Pool MRS. A. L. McDONALD entertained enter-tained her bridge club last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening. Those present to enjoy the evening were Mrs. K. B. Coon, Mrs. L. F. Kohler, Mrs. Vic Carlson, Mrs. Harold I line, Mrs. Oral Evans, Mrs. i Ben Hillman and Mrs. L. E. ji Sollar. Prizes we're won for high score by Mrs. McDonald, second high, Mrs. Kohler, and third, Mrs. Coon. -Delicious nut bread I iind salad and coffee were served ill midnight. : THE MISSES Madelyn Kohler and Bonnie Crane were co-hostesses at a bridal shower for Leah Mae Smith Friday night at the Kohler home. Hearts were played during the evening, in the lighted outdoor garden. Prizes were won by Jeanne Eldridge, high, and Charleen Nichols, low. The dining room was elaborately elabor-ately decorated for the buffet lunch. A satin damask cloth covered the table, and a beautiful beauti-ful centerpiece of larkspur, candytuft can-dytuft and tall flower tapers, along with lenox swans filled with forgetmenots, finsihed the table decorations. ; Twenty-five guests were pres ent, and presented the honored guest with many beautiful wedding wed-ding gifts. The hostesses were assisted by Mrs. Lloyd F. Kohler. Those present were Louise Holms', Mildred Holms and Janet Holms of Minersville, Jeanne Bracken, Jeanne Eldridge, Lola Mae Waddoups, Charleen Nichols, Nich-ols, Norma Grimshaw, Jerry Banks, Joyce Scott, Patsy Smith, Mary Reese, Bonnie Vernon, Clarice Smith, Betty LaBaron, Jerry Lyman, Beverly Dumas, Pat Turner, Corrine Clay, Shirley Shir-ley Smith, LaDawne Muncey, Ada Jane Mahoney and the hostesses host-esses and honored guest. 6 ...AN INTERESTING evening was spent at the home of Mrs. I Toni Uffens when she enter- I tained her pinochle club. THE CATHOLIC Ladies League met at the home of Mrs. Cecil Edwards Wednesday afternoon, aft-ernoon, July 16th. Father Kreig of Santa Barbara gave the ladies a very interesting lesson on The Blessed Trinity. Mrs. Edwards served a very delicious salad course. Sweet peas were used as decorations. Plans are being made to have a picnic for all Catholics the last of July. The next meeting will be at the apartment of Mrs. G. McGinn in August. Mrs. Owen R. Smith, Reporter. . A LOVELY home wedding was solemnized on July sixth, at the Mr. and Mrs. V. Waddoups home, when their daughter, Car-lie, Car-lie, exchanged wedding vows with Mr. Max Roberts. The charming bride was attractively at-tractively gowned in an exquisite sheer white dress with colorful flowers, and wore a white rose corsage. The maid of honor, Miss Lola Mae Waddoups, sister of .the bride, chose as her dress a yellow mesh afternoon dress, and wore a corsage of white roses. Mr. Bill Roberts, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man., The ceremony was read by Bishop Carl Goodwin. Present at the ceremony, all Present at the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. V. THE EVENING of June seventh, sev-enth, Mr. and Mrs. V. Waddoups honored Mr. and Mrs. Max Roberts, Rob-erts, newly-weds, at a reception at the Arion hall. Mrs. Waddoups, Mrs. Pratt Root, Miss Lola Mae Waddoups and Miss Melpha Lyman received re-ceived the many relatives and friends of the couple who attended. at-tended. A program was given, with Carlyle Gronning acting as toastmaster. Leland Thompson Thomp-son gave a vocal solo, Bonnie Tomsik a piano solo, and Mrs. Vera Bond gave a reading. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour, after which refreshments refresh-ments were served. and Mrs. J. M. Hughes graciously gracious-ly poured tea for the 56 guests who called during the afternoon. Miss Madelyn Kohler, Miss Mildred Mil-dred Holmes, and Miss Shirley Smith, gowned in lovely formals, served the guests. Miss Leah Smith wore a lovely afternoon dress, with a sweetpea corsage. |
