Show MINERSVILLE By RUBEN DOTSON Minersville reverted back a few years this Fourth, and had a real celebration. A noisy and enjoyable one. The day started with a parade at 9:30 a. m., which included many beautiful and attractive floats. The prize for the best float went to the Queen, Miss Helen Davis, and her attendants, Hazel Sherwood and Nona Eyre. Second prize was awarded to the Bishopric float, depicting pioneers with covered wagons, oxen, and pioneer relics. The 4-H Club, with Mrs. Erma Gillins as leader, won third prize. Individual honors went to Clyde Hollingshead. A program followed the parade, pa-rade, with the little son of Lee Baker of Milford stealing the show with his dancing. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon a sports program was held, including in-cluding foot races, boxing, plate throwing, nail hammering, etc., with a chance for all to participate. partici-pate. A children's dance was held at 5 o'clock, with the old folks going to the race track to enjoy the horse racing. The day was climaxed by dancing at Hanging Rock Pavilion. Pavil-ion. Many are to be thanked for their cooperation in making the day a success. Mr. Lou Carter of Craig, Colo., was here visiting over the Fourth with friends and relatives. Mrs. J. T. Ryan (formerly Elaine Albrecht) and son are here visiting her brothers, Milton and Sheldon, while her husband is in Washington attending an R. O. T. C. encampment. Heber and Emily have a new Ford. The postmaster, Ruben W. Dot-son, Dot-son, reports that the Minersville post office has been raised to a fourth class office, effective July 1. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Carter and family of Cedar City, visited in Minersville over the Fourth week-end. Mr. Kent Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carter, and Lois Atkin of Beaver, daughter of Heber Atkin, were married last week.. Their reception was held in the Beaver Legion Hall on Monday night. A party was held in Minersville Miners-ville Canyon near Hanging Rock, Saturday night, by a group of young couples. Hamburgers were served with root beer, followed fol-lowed by generous cuts of watermelon. wat-ermelon. Two new business enterprises, selling cadies and .confections, have been opened here recently, one by Dan Davis at his service station, and the other at the Dot-son Dot-son Hotel building, by Lorraine Dotson. Mr. and Mrs .Roy Goodwin and family of Nevada are here visiting Mr. and Mrs. George Baker. Word has reached here that the wife of Rulon Hollingshead of Springville passed away Tuesday evening. Interment will be in Minersville cemetery. Mr. Lorin Goff, formerly of Minersville and more recently of Boulder, Nev., passed away last week.
