Show 49-ER CELEBRATION WAS SUCCESS The twentieth American Legion Le-gion Forty-Niner celebration was a tremendous success, with celebrants cele-brants and visitors making merry from early in the morning until 4 a. m. the following day. The Go West parade, starting at 2:45 under the direction of Thorpe Waddingham, was described des-cribed as "one of the best Milford Mil-ford has ever seen." Hundreds of school children, the Milford Boy Scouts, and many pioneer-costumed pioneer-costumed marchers passed in review, re-view, along with a score of merchant-sponsored floats, floats from the grade schools and the high school, and a score or more from the grade school. First prize in the adult division divi-sion was awarded the High School's "Every Girl a Star" entry. Second prize went to the Boy Scouts, with their sagebrush decorated float depicting de-picting an Indian encampment. Third-place award was won by the Tenth Graders, their float depicting an 1847 "bath room" in use. In the Junior division, the Truex children's float was ad-(Continucd ad-(Continucd on Back Page) MMCi WifilWHi - HERE'S MORE ABOUT '49-ERS (Continued from Page One) judged best, with the Keetch Beehive, "Utah Industry," second sec-ond and the Grade School's load of manure labeled "For Land's Sake" taking the third award. Friesen took second honors, and Harvey Voor-hees Voor-hees walked off with the consolation conso-lation prize for "the guy that tries to grow 'em and can't." "Buich" Gillespie, who had been sporting a horribly black, most luxuriant crop of bristles for several weeks, was inadvertently inad-vertently left out of the contest. con-test. While judging was in progress, "Butch" was assisting assist-ing operators of a pseudo-crap game in Allen's Alley. It is reported re-ported that Butch would have won the contest without a struggle had he been present. !
