Show $500,000 AUCTION SEEN : FOR JUNIOR STOCK SHOW A new all-time high mark of , half a million dollars in the auction auc-tion of the Intermountain Junior Fat Stock Show, to 'be held at North Salt Lake on June 2, 3 and 4, was predicted as possible ; this year by Col. Wm. H. Adams Sr., auctioneer who has presided at the show since its inception in 1936. This compares with $350,000, which was paid to the exhibitors of the record-breaking show in 1946. While this is a 40 increase over the previous world's record, rec-ord, held by itself, Col. Adams makes it seem logical. ",We started ten years ago with a sale of $19,000," he said, "and have been improving each year. Last year the Spokane, Wash., show set a new record with a sale of $240,000 and we beat it with -a sale of $350,000. This year Spokane again showed improvement, im-provement, jumping to $337,000 still 1 below our mark of last year, but a great jump over its own mark. If Salt Lake follows this market trend it can reach the half-million mark this year." The show is open only to members mem-bers of 4-H and FFA clubs who have grown their own animals under the direction of their own teachers. Entries, which may be made only thru their instructors, must reach the stock yards on Sunday, June 1. |
