Show Chairman named for Springville to spearhead United Fund drive Jerry Shermerseim, acive in Lions club and civic work, has been named as the Springville chairman of the Utah County United Fund. He has selected several club members to assist in the drive here which, is being sponsored by the Lions club. Goal for this year's drive for the county is $214,000. For the first time, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society have joined the drive efforts with the Utah County United Fund. "With the addition of these two large national health agencies," agen-cies," Mr. Sermersheim said, "everyone should participate even to a greater degree than in past years. Springville has lead the way of all other com-muuities com-muuities in the county in going go-ing over the top in its campaign cam-paign goal in the business area of Springville and I am sure we will lead the way again this year", Mr. Sermersheim continued. Other agencies in this year's drive include the Red Cross, Alpine House, Arthritis Foundation, Foun-dation, Boy Scouts of America, Community Services Council, Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, Diabetes Association, Multiple Sclerosis, reading room for the blind. Salvation Army,' Utah County Blind Association, U.S.O., Utah Valley Care and Training Center. Cen-ter. Utah County United Fund is owned and operated by the citizens ci-tizens of the county. Money which is raised stays here in Utah County. The board of directors di-rectors are volunteers including W. W. Clyde, Jack Allen .and Mayor Calvin Packard. Harrison Har-rison Conover has also served on the original board of directors direc-tors when it was begun in 1964. This year's drive will officially offic-ially kickoff Friday, September 6. In SpringviHe, workers will be calling on downtown businesses busi-nesses beginning September 9 through the 13. |
