Show J D Dalton wins police pistol shooting match at local range i s i . . . . : ' i ! w. Police Sgt. J D Dalton, veteran vet-eran pistol shooter, won the annual an-nual Springville-Mapleton Pistol Pis-tol Meet held in conjunction with a canyon party for officers offi-cers and -their partners last Wednesday at Kelly's Grove. The match was held at the new pistol range directed by DeVere Kelsey and was shot uwfcr National Rifle Association Associa-tion rules. Trooper Bill Duncan Dun-can of the highway patrol was range master and judge. Sgt. Dalton received a handsome hand-some trophy as he won by amassing an aggregate score of 667 fired on both timed combat course and the slow fired targets tar-gets course. The trophy is presented pre-sented by Chief Ashley Graham Gra-ham and is a revolving trophy with it being retained for one year unless an officer can win it three .consecutive times. Other results of the matches follow: combat course, first place, Ashley Graham; second place, Sgt. Dalton; third place, Newell Rigtrup. Slow fire, first place, Auxiliary Auxil-iary Supervisor Lee Snelson; second place, Sgt. Dalton; third place, DeVere Kelsey. Ladies' slow fire, first place, Mrs. DeVere Kelsey; second place, Mrs. Terry Young; third place, Mrs. Floyd Duke. The ladies did not try on the combat com-bat course nor Chief Graham on the slow fire course. Following the matches a fried chicken dinner was served serv-ed by the wives and string musical mu-sical entertainment was furnished furn-ished by Paul Hyde. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jones, Salt Lake City. Mr. Jones is director of the peace officers standards and training for the State of Utah. He showed show-ed a training film on emergency Paul Montague, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Montague, is home after serving- a mission mis-sion in the Great Lakes Mission. Mis-sion.
