Show Watts breaks own record at track meet Alan Watts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Platte Watts, broke the Regional broad jump record at the meet held last Friday in Ppovo, a record which he had previously broken and which stood on the books. He leaped 21 feet 9 inches. His previous record mark was 21 feet 8 inches in-ches set in 1966. Besides winning the broad jump, Alan won the 100 to qualify qua-lify him for entry into the state finals Saturday at South High. Others qualifying for the state meet include Robert Bailey Bai-ley who tied for second in the 440; Brett Wheeler who took third in the Javelin; Paul Blanchard who placed second in 880; Allen Hjorth, third in the low hurdles. Watts pulled a muscle in his two events and was unable to run on the relay which would have given the Devils a possible pos-sible championship. They got got 34 points. BY High and Payson tied with lit. for first. |
