Show Indigent tax abatement being offered Those who feel they qualify for the indigent tax abatement should make a written request to the Utah County Commission as soon as possible, the Corn-mission Corn-mission revealed today. In the written request the circumstances of qualification should be given. The necessary requirements are that the individual in-dividual must have resided in the country for ten months of the past year; must make less than $1,500 per year; have a home with a market value of $10,000 or less and be over 65 or totally disabled. Under the new legislation an indigent person is entitled to an abatement of the property tax in the amount of no more than $40 or 50 per cent of the total assessed tax, which ever is less. I Excessive speed is the number num-ber one highway killer, according accord-ing to a report from The Travelers Trav-elers Insurance Companies. Last year excessive speed was involved in-volved in more than 18,000 fatalities fa-talities on America's highways. Drivers under 25 years of age continue to compile the worst traffic records of any age group, according to a report re-port from Travelers Insurance Companies, Young drivers were involved in almost 32 percent of highway deaths last year. |
