Show Freeway plans in jeopardy "Utah's Highway Construction Construc-tion program calls for the completion com-pletion and opening to traffic this fall of many important sections of new road. Among these are such important sections sec-tions as 1-80 in Salt Lake City between Parleys Canyon and I-15; I-15; 1-15 from 33rd South to 53rd South; 1-15 from Layton to Ogden; 1-15 from Provo to Spanish Fork and many other important highway lengths. "These completion schedules are now in jeopardy. Delays in construction of only a few weeks could mean that badly needed additions to our highway high-way styem will not be opened the fall of 1967. "Members of the State Road Commission of Utah have expressed ex-pressed concern to me over work stoppages on our high- way system. This interruption of work progress on the Utah Highway System is beyond the control of either the State Road Commission or the Utah State Department of Highways. "A few weeks of lost working time now may cost Utah a year's delay in her, up to now, excellent progress in meeting the scheduled completion dates. |
