Show Native trout eggs now being brooded The take out of native trout eggs from spawning fish in Sheep Creek Lake in Daggett County and Strawberry Reservoir Reser-voir in Wasatch County is completed com-pleted and Department officers have closed up the traps after taking over 4,000,000 of these hard-to-get eggs. This year's spawning run started earlier than past years and was considered a good take from the spawners in both waters. wa-ters. Female natives in Sheep Creek were tagged with a plastic spaghetti type bag before be-fore being returned to Sheep Creek in order to determine the number of this year's spaw-ners spaw-ners returning next year in an effort to gain information on longevity and spawning habits of these fish. The eggs taken are being brooded at the Kamas, Spring-ville, Spring-ville, Whiterocks, Midway and Scott Avenue Hatcheries where they will be raised to advanced fry size for stocking into selected se-lected waters later this year. |
