Show Ice fishing now popular sport Ice Fishing is a sport seldom taken advantage of by Utah anglers. Several waters open to year around fishing usually freeze' up to allow anglers to walk out on the ice to do a little ice fishing. The most popular waters are Flaming Gorge, Bear Lake, and Mantua Reservoir. While other waters are frozen and open to fishing, they are largely large-ly ignored by the anglers. The following are a few characteristics of ice and load limits and are worth remembering: remem-bering: Slush ice is about one-half one-half as strong as clear blue ice. River ice is 15 weaker than lake ice. Continuous travel trav-el over the same route will weaken the ice. New ice is stronger than old ice. Safa lnadn 2 inches of ice ... 1 man on foot. 3 inches of ice . . . group in single file. 7 inches of ice. automobile (2 ton gross). 12 inches of ice . . . truck (2 ton gross). |
