Show :Utah artists win cash prizes in annual February exhibit When the annual All-Utah Ifrt Show opened Tuesday, at '')e art gallery, six paintings id been judged as the best Erika Packman took second, and received $25 with an oil, "Security," and Elizabeth Snow of Bountiful, third, with a wa-tercolor, wa-tercolor, "The Apple Tree." for, in the show in the professional and amateur classes from the 241 pictures on exhibit. Judges were all from BYU including Dale Fletcher, Francis Mag-leby Mag-leby and Lane Raty. B. F. Larson of Provo received re-ceived first place and a $50 prize for his oil entitled "Tree of Heaven Seed Pods," in the professional class; Richard Brown, Provo, second place, $35, for a water color, "The Third Member," and Osrall B. Allred, Ogden, third place, $10, for "Ironton." In the amateur class Merlin Miller of Provo, received first place and a $50 prize for his modernistic oil, "Playground;" which she received a $10 prize. The show is open school days from 9 a.m., until 4 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 2 until 9 p.m. Someone will be in attendance at all times to answer questions on the exhibit and the exhibiting artists. The art show will be open throughout February and features fea-tures some fine entries by artists ar-tists throughout the state including in-cluding a number from Springville Spring-ville in the professional as well as the amateur divisions. |
