Show Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Members of the Hobble Creek Riding Club chartered a bus and went to Salt Lake Saturday where they joined members of the state riding club for an evening of dancing at the Terrace Ballroom. Following Fol-lowing the dance, the club motored mo-tored to Harmon's Cafe for dinner. Mapleton members in the party were: Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Carnesecca Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Earl Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Barney, Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Losee, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cherrington and Mr. and Mrs. Kay Marrott. The Scouts of both Mapleton Wards will be observing Scout Week from February 6, to the 12. The Scouts of Mapleton Ward will give the Sunday evening meeting, and following at 7 p.m. the Mapleton Second Ward Scouts will be responsible respon-sible for services in that ward. The Scout banquet for the Mapleton Ward will be held Wed. Feb. 9, and the Mapleton Second Ward will hold theirs Thursday, Feb. 10. All Scouts was retained as secretary. The out-going officers are Ella Edmunds Ed-munds president; Ina Bushman, education councilor and Beth Jensen work director councilor. Officers and teachers of the Mapleton Ward Primary will conduct the penny drive Monday, Mon-day, February 7. Proceeds from this drive go to the Primary Pri-mary children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. and their parents are invited to these banquets. The theme for this year's program is "Strengthening the Scouting Heritage." Earl Freeman enjoyed a trip to Denver with Fred Diamond Dia-mond of Springville and Jack Christensen of Spanish Fork, where they attended the National Na-tional Western Horse Show and Rodeo. They were gone a week. Mr. and Mrs. Kelsey Lee are proud grandparents of a baby boy born to Mr. and Mrs. Warren War-ren Losee at the Utah Valley Hospital Thursday. The Liahona groups of the Mapleton Ward Primary held their Daddy Date in January in the' cultural hall. The evenings eve-nings entertainment included a program, games and box lunches. lun-ches. An interesting feature of the evening was when the dads decorated hats for their daughters to model. Members of the bishopric and their wives were special guests. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rogers Monday afternoon. Members of the Firemen's Auxiliary held a quilting at the town hall Monday evening. The quilt is being made for the Firemen's Ball, which will probably be held in March. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gren and family of Tooele spent three days last week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gren. Members of the Mapleton riding club held a social at the town hall Saturday evening. eve-ning. Supper was served to ten counples and the remainder of the evening was spent playing volleyball. Mr. and Mrs. John Roundy (Linda) are visiting with her parents Mr .and Mrs. Earl Freeman and with his parents in Salt Lake City. The Roun-dys Roun-dys have been living in New Jersey, but he has been transferred trans-ferred to California. Mapleton Ward Relief Society Soci-ety was reorganized Sunday at sacrament meeting. Genevieve Whiting was sustained as president pres-ident with Myrna Lee Tew as work director councilor. The education councilor has not been chosen yet. Mary Diamond |
