Show Funeral rites held for Mrs. Shurtz, 81 Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Fourth Ward for Mrs. Clarice McKeen Shurtz, 81, 179 No. 7th East, who died Sun. Nov. 15 1964 at Eldred Hospital. Bishop Verl Whiting was in charge. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery under direction of Wheeler Mortuary. She was born April 28, 1879 in Escalante, a daughter of Theodore and Lucy Adelia Allen Al-len McKean. She was married to Ambrose Shurtz, Nov. 23, 1898 in Escalante, and their marriage was later solemnized iin the Manti DDS Temple. Mrs. Shurtz was active in the LDS Church, having served as president of the YWMIA and as a Relief Society counselor coun-selor and Primary teacher. She filled a two-year stake mission. Surviving are her husband of Springville; one son and one daughter, Theodore M. Shurtz of Tooele, and Mrs. Eunis (Maxine) Hansen of Tempe, Arizona; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; also one great great grandson; nine half-brothers and half-sisters; half-sisters; Theodore L. McKean, Franklin L. McKean, Mrs. Margaret M. Newson and Mrs. Edna Dickson of Salt Lake City; Alanson B. Davis of Bountiful; William B. McKean of Gainsville, Florida; David B. McKean and Charles B. McKean Mc-Kean of San Francisco, Calif; and Mrs. Amy Selfridge of Long Beach, Calif. |
