Public inivited to Larsen show (continued from page one) ment of the Brigham Young University, Mr. Larsen has continued to paint the western landscape with bold colors and sensitive feeling. He claims to be a realist painter but some of his works have an "abstract" "ab-stract" appearance. Actually these works are Larsen's successful suc-cessful attempts to show subtle sub-tle reality such as microscopic subjects that are not readily seen or understood by the cas- ual observer. "B. P." as his friends call him, believes that man has tried to find out what is real about his universe and continues to seek for new ideas and means of expression. He maintains that an artist is always al-ways a student and like a prophet pro-phet or poet, he is a searcher of the truth. The Springville Art Museum has three of his works in its permanent collection. At age 82, he still actively paints and finds new ideas in nature.. He and his wife, who also paints, reside in Provo. The Department of Agriculture Agricul-ture has reported that Americans Ameri-cans smoked 16 billion fewer cigarettes during the first half of this year than in the comparable com-parable period of 1963. That was a 6.5 per cent decline. |
